Telling It is in after school program run to create a safe space which empowers youths in dangerous situations to discuss the taboo and difficult parts of their lives. At risk youths may have parents who are homeless, be raised by a single parent, prone to gang activity, etc.
This design was difficult because of the many audiences of Telling It. The logo had to be friendly enough to show that the organization worked with children, yet not so goofy that the logo misrepresented Telling It. This organization deals with heavy and important topics. It also needed to be professional enough to legitimize the organization in the eyes of potential donors.
Ultimately this logo was not chosen for Telling It. Out of twenty two designers, it was in the top three.
